RALGA Executive Committee convenes to review third quarter performance

Kigali, 31 March 2026 – Members of the RALGA Executive Committee of RALGA convened to review the performance of the third quarter of the 2025/2026 fiscal year. The regular quarterly meeting was chaired by Dr. Odette Uwizeye, the chairperson of the Executive Committee.

During the meeting, Mr. Valens Uwineza, RALGA Secretary General, presented the implementation status of resolutions from previous Executive Committee (ExCom) meetings, budget execution status, as well as the progress made in implementing activities planned for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.


Some of the key activities carried out during the third quarter include:

•Supporting recruitment procedures for staff in Districts and the City of Kigali. A total of 1,031 candidates passed the examinations, of whom 619 are currently being placed in various positions. The remaining candidates will be retained on the waiting list.

•Strengthening capacity-building programmes for Local Government staff. RALGA conducted multiple programmes and sessions aimed at enhancing the capacities of staff and leaders from member entities.

•Organising the General Assembly of the Local Government Women Network to advance the role of women in governance and the country’s development.

•Supporting Local Governments in improving the delivery of land and housing-related services.

The RALGA Executive Committee meets once every three (3) months, and whenever deemed necessary, to ensure the effective implementation of RALGA activities in line with its institutional responsibilities and the recommendations of the General Assembly.
